Balayage/Hand Painting

Balayage is a French coloring technique that was developed in the 1970s. It is a freehand technique where the color is applied by hand rather than using the traditional foiling or cap highlighting techniques. Balayage can be used in even the shortest pixie crop however the best result is in hair at or below the shoulders.

You can achieve so many different effects from soft, natural dimension to something strong and punky. The fact that it is so low maintenance is such a draw-card. People want to look fashionable and feel good about their appearance but in this day and age we don't all have the time to be in the salon every few weeks for a touch up.

Ombre

Ombre is both a French and Italian term meaning ‘shadow or shaded’. It is a graduation of color from light to dark. This highlighting technique is used to give the appearance of ‘grown out’ high lights and sun kissed ends. The look encourages the appearance of roots making it virtually maintenance-free! Dependent on preference, touch-ups are only needed 2-3 times per year (at least half as frequently as conventional highlights).

There are virtually limitless options using the ombre technique, from subtle to dramatic. This technique is best used on medium to long length hair. Beautiful color can be achieved by alternating light and medium highlights throughout the hair, varying the placement along each strand.
