LAINA WELSH

Some of you may remember me as the receptionist for the first 4 months when L’Atelier opened its doors in January 2008.  It has been such an amazing experience to see a salon come so far in just a few years, and to be one of the original crew.

People have said to me my whole life, “You’re parents are both artists…..you must have artistic blood running through your veins!” …Well the truth is, I’ve never been much of a painter or sculpture at all, or any type of artist for that matter.  I definitely have a creative side to me, and I think it was apparent as a teenager that my artistic niche was more in hair design, make up and fashion.  One of my best friends always told me when I was running around doing all my friends up-do’s for Prom that I should go to Beauty School, but I always shrugged off the idea until I met the gang at L’Atelier.

When I met Jenna and Amanda and started working behind the front desk in the salon, I knew that I wanted to get my Cosmetology license and join the team at L’Atelier. I couldn’t take my eyes away from watching everyone work their magic behind the chair.  I wanted to know EVERYTHING….and I wanted to know it well.

After I got my license, after long, grueling hours at beauty school, I began to assist Jenna behind the chair.  It was an amazing learning experience and being such a detail oriented person that she is….I learned it ALL!  Even how to give the best head massages in town: )

Now it’s been 2 years since I ventured out on my own and I feel so lucky and I am so excited to be a part of the L’Atelier family.  To be instantly put in a surrounding where EVERY stylist in the salon has creativity flowing through their viens.  Even the salon itself is such an inspiring environment because the space itself is so exquisite, bright and artistic.  What more could I ask for?!  I feel fortunate to say that not a day goes by where I don’t wake up excited and looking forward to seeing my clients and doing hair.

My goal as a stylist is to soak up as much knowledge as possible and continue my education in every way, at any opportunity I get, and become the best stylist I can be.  I want everyone who sits in my chair to feel well taken care of and well listened to. I have taken classes in San Francisco at the Vidal Sassoon Academy, cutting and coloring classes at Di Pietro Todd, Kevin Murphy Styling classes and I have received many certifications from Jane Iredale’s make up training.

When I’m not at work I’m usually doing super cool stuff like reading, staying active, cooking and hanging out with my amazing family, fiancé and friends.

I met a salon owner down south whose words made an impact on me….

“Your hair is a canvas, let me paint you a picture.”

Look forward to meeting you!!
