MISSY SCHNAPS

I love my job. I get to be creative, meet cool and interesting people, connect, laugh, listen to good music, be surrounded by beauty, and basically witness transformation. All this at a salon...crazy, huh?... and you thought you were just getting a haircut! No really, Ive been doing hair for almost 10 years and not a day goes by that I'm not not touched, moved or inspired by what I do and the people i meet.
I grew up in NJ with a strong style directive... my mom's closet was packed with Chanel suits, DVF wrap dresses, and groovy hip-huggers, and my Barbie's were my fashion templates.I got my first "real" haircut by Jon in the 80's-- a permed, frosted, shaved on one side assymetrical gem- I was hooked! and i knew this was something i wanted to do.
After completing cosmetology school At Waynes College of Beauty in Santa Cruz, I moved to San Francisco and worked as an assistant at Cowboys and Angels Salon. It was there I was taught Vidal Sassoon precision inspired cutting techniques and funky Bumble and bumble razor cuts. Ater a year in the city, I returned to Santa Cruz and was hired at Jon Michael Studio (now Heat Salon). At JMS I filled the role of Network Educator-- a direct liason between Bumble and bumble in NYC and our salon. My training includes extensive classwork at Bb University, as well as numerous classes in color and cutting techniques from Redken, Aveda, purology, Paul Mitchell... etc. I am always learning... drawing inspiration from my environment, the city, girls on the muni, street style, fashion magazines, and love...
But enough about all that... Come get your hair did. You'll be glad you did.
