Robin greated me with genuine warmth.. and had the room warm and ready.. for my appointment. She asked me to be sure I communicated during the massage what was working and to let her know in advance any issues. The massage was very well paced… very thorough slow deep tissue. .followed my gentle strong hands. The issues i explained were targeted and thoughtfull but balanced throughout the massage. I had a generous and thorough massage that was 10 out of 10. I will highly recommend Robin and return.

I could not be happier with my experience at L'Atelier, but in particular, with Michaela Veglia.
First, this place immediately impressed me by getting a brief phone interview from me about my hair type, what kind of haircut I was getting, etc. (Apparently if a salon doesn't do this, "you should run away," says Michaela).
I had very long, wavy/curly hair, and walked in with very little idea with how I wanted to change it. All I knew is I wanted it very short. Michaela was fantastic at giving me advice about what the best style would be, based on my hair type, face shape, and my desire for low maintenance. Michaela herself has curly hair, so she totally understands what it's like to cut/ style curly hair, so I completely trusted her judgment calls (unlike many other stylists!).
Michaela spent 90 minutes cutting and styling my hair! She was so patient and careful with the entire process. Not only that, she was so wonderful to talk to!
This is best haircut I've had in years. Not only was I happy with how the haircut turned out, so was Michaela! Even still, she offered that, if anything changed (after a few washings, curly hair can suddenly have a mind of its own), she would fix it free-of-charge. Anyway, it's been a couple weeks, and I've gotten so many compliments on my haircut, and I still love it! Thanks so much, Michaela!
Also, the atmosphere here is very nice. All the people who work there don't give off a judgmental vibe, so it's very inviting. It's quite a beautiful place, but in a relaxing way, not in an intimidating or overly edgy way. Plus, they offer you tea, coffee, water, which was great. I highly recommend this place!Alice N. - Laina did my hair color yesterday. A nice rich chocolate brown I have NEVER been able to achieve myself.

- I love this salon.
I saw Whitney and she gave me a custom Ombre coloring and a great haircut. She actually painted the color onto my hair and it looks so natural and sun kissed. I am getting compliments from everyone and I felt special leaving the salon.

- I recently decided to stop traveling 100+ miles to get my hair done and went on a comprehensive search for a local salon. WOW was I successful!! L'Atelier is a beautiful, peaceful, sun-lit space where everyone goes out of there way to make you feel comfortable (even when you're late for your appointment!!) I arrived feeling a little harried because I was late but was treated with grace and courtesy by the woman at the front desk. My stylist--and this is my foremost criteria--listened to everything I had to say about my hair wants/likes/dislikes. I had a cut & color that makes me very, very happy. Ange (my new stylist) has a great eye for color and was creative in how she got the color I asked for. I look great!! And to top it all off, I even got a 15 minute (free!) make up consultation from Laina, whom I highly recommend.

- I was only visiting Santa Cruz and had heard about L'Atelier from a family member; I'm so thankful for this recommendation. I booked an appointment on a whim for a cut and style. First of all, their receptionist is incredibly professional and kind. She answered all of of my questions and quieted all of my fears about having a salon that was unknown to me cut my hair and made me feel quite at ease. Upon entering the salon, I was greeted warmly and was offered some beautifully presented lemon water while I waited. My stylist, Laina Welsh, after finishing one of the most beautiful styles on her previous client and making her station absolutely spotless, came over and my wonderful experience began.
Laina is very well educated and her consultation was phenomenal. I came in thinking I was going to have just my usual trim, but through her personality and professionalism, I trusted my hair in her hands entirely. I'm not sure that I have ever had a more pleasant experience at a hair salon. Not only was the atmosphere beautiful, relaxing and clean, Laina gave me the best haircut I've ever received. I live in Texas and so wish I could be there to continue my hair's and my relationship with Laina and L'Atelier salon.
I wish there an option to give more stars than five because both Laina and the salon definitely deserve more.

- Each visit to L'Atelier is a wonderful experience. The space is beautiful and spacious with loads of natural light. The staff is super friendly collaborative, and really seem to enjoy their work. My stylist is Jeana who's great with both cut and color. She instantly puts me at ease and the whole experience isalways relaxing. Well worth the money.
- So I had a total hair emergency- I tried a box dye to dye my hair dark brown and it turned out BLACK. Laina worked her miracle shampoo in my hair, and 2 hours later, I had my gorgeous brown hair back!
- Ginger has cut my hair several times now, and she is wonderful. She works with you to get exactly what you want, and takes the time to do it right. I have very fine hair that is not that easy to cut. The last time I had her color my hair - highlights - and it looks GREAT. I have received so many compliments that I will certainly be back.
- Thanks Nick for a great hair cut! Nick offered great listening AND design skills. I love the line and the way my hair moves. He took his time and added great finishing touches. Recommended!
- Missy is an artist - her arms and scissors dance around your head and when your appointment is over, you have a terrific haircut that is sensitive to your wants and needs, combined with her expertise and vision. She is upbeat and charming and I left the salon, happy with my haircut and uplifted by the great atmosphere.
- I was referred to L'Atelier by a friend that ALWAYS looks terrific, so I straight out asked her where she went. Missy Schnaps is my stylist and did a terrific job, so much so that I actually thought this old schlumpadinka looked cute when I caught a glance of myself walking out of the salon! Missy took the time to listen to me and really gave me the best cut I've had in decades. The salon itself is lovely, with convenient parking which is typically not the case downtown. From the first interaction with sweet Erica, through the time I left with my fabulous new hairdo, L'Atelier offered nothing less than a stellar experience. They have a customer for life in me!!
- I was very happy with the service. I really like my haircut from Lauren. I have a section of hair that is really difficult to work with and I didn't have a lot of words to express what I wanted-- Lauren handled this masterfully. And Ruth was very generous... both very professional! I loved being asked if I wanted anything from the Delmarette!
- Bahman is the absolutely most incredible stylist and colorist I have ever been too. Most recently, he gave me a keratin treatment which transformed my hair from a tri-colored frizzy mess to a glossy auburn crown. I am not exaggerating. It is an incredible treatment that truly gives you "dream" hair. Bahman took extra time pre-conditioning my hair (which was badly damaged from over coloring) a few days prior to the treatment to enhance the keratin. In addition to being incredibly knowledgeable about hair and product, he is also a very gifted reflexologist. The Keratin treatment takes quite a while but the salon is well-light, airy, and has an excellent sound system and great service overall. But the real treasure here is Bahman. Before finding him, I used to go to San Fransisco for good cuts and a few times, I've even waited for a trip to see my parents in New York for a great salon. Santa Cruz is lucky to have such a gifted stylist here. And try the keratin!!
